More than 2,000 students get ‘Volunthero’ cards and badges to thank them for their commitment to volunteering throughout their studies
Unpredictable weather didn’t stop 145 of our students taking part in the University’s Big Volunteer Day, a one-off volunteering project which forms part of annual Student Volunteering Week, delivered in partnership between the University and Students’ Union Volunteering Teams.
The students turned up to make a wildlife friendly space, planting over 1,000 bulbs and a hedge at Lockton Close in Ardwick. The overwhelming turnout meant there were even enough hands to undertake some playground maintenance at neighbouring Medlock Primary School.
Student Volunteering Week also saw volunteering activities and talks on ethical volunteering, homelessness, period poverty and sustainability, giving students a chance to see how they could get involved and make a difference to the community.
And more than 2,000 students received ‘Volunthero’ cards and badges, to say thank you for their commitment to volunteering throughout their studies.
Hear what our students have to say about volunteering:
If students missed Student Volunteering Week, they can still get involved with volunteering on the Volunteer Hub.
