Academic colleagues – have your say in the Student Experience Programme

We’re looking for academic colleagues to bring their views into the Student Experience Programme, to help shape our future services to students.
About the Programme
The Student Experience Programme aims to review and improve our technology, processes and structures, to ensure we provide excellent, efficient services to all our applicants and students. To deliver this transformation, a series of working groups have been tasked with recommending new structures for student-focused areas of activity – taking into consideration new processes and technology.
We’re looking for academic representatives to lend their unique knowledge and expertise to these working groups. The Programme will not directly impact academic roles, but it will change the way you do certain things and some of the PS structures in your local area. Your unique insight will be instrumental in shaping the future recommendations.
You can volunteer to work with any of these working groups, according to your interests and expertise:
- Digital learning, online and blended learning
- Postgraduate research
- Programme and curriculum design and management
- Student administration (inc. attendance monitoring)
- Student communications and engagement
- Student finance
- Student support and development
- Taught assessment and progression
- Timetabling and course unit selection

Academic representation
Academic representatives will work in partnership with PS colleagues and current students. Together we’ll ensure that the recommendations for new structures consider the holistic views of those who both provide and use our student services.
You’ll take part in a series of engagement activities, possibly including feeding back on suggested operating models; taking part in focus groups or workshops; consulting with your academic peers to canvass wider opinion; and sharing updates and progress with your local team.
The time commitment will be kept to a maximum of 8 hours, split across a number of face-to-face sessions and online activity. The peak activity period will be between February and April 2020 (excluding the Easter vacation) – exact session dates will be confirmed by the end of January to those taking part.

Once you’ve decided which theme(s) you’re interested in working with, email the Programme team to express your interest via: studentexperienceprogramme@manchester.ac.uk by close of Thursday 16 January 2020.
This is your chance to have a say in the future of your Department/School/Faculty and the University as a whole. Your input will help determine how activity is organised and how services are run, to improve the experience of our students and the work your colleagues (both academic and PS).
