Number of countries now considered high risk by the University has increased

12 Mar 2020

If the risk to your destination has changed, review your risk assessment and seek approval again

Before you book travel, ensure you complete the necessary steps

This advice is correct at the time of publication of this news article.  For the latest information, please check Public Health England and the University’s coronavirus website.

As a result of coronavirus (Covid-19), the number of countries now considered high risk by the University has increased, travel to any of these countries requires approval before you travel. If the risk to your destination has changed, you may also need to review your risk assessment and seek approval again.

Travel flowchart

Make sure you follow the travel flowchart at all times, it simplifies the requirements around pre-travel risk assessments, both in the UK and overseas. It can be found via the suitcase icon on the StaffNet home page, as well as on the Compliance and risk webpages, where the content has been streamlined and updated.

If you are still planning to work away from the University – whether for a conference or meeting, or for research fieldwork – you should read or adapt the generic risk assessment or write a specific risk assessment, depending on the risks identified in your trip or your specific personal needs. You will also require pre-travel approval appropriate.

You should also ensure you comply with the University’s Travel Policy and the University’s health and safety guidance on working off campus.
