Hundreds of students and staff benefit from new 24/7 mental wellbeing platform

Over 800 students and staff have now registered for Big White Wall
Over 800 students and staff have signed up for our new 24/7 anonymous online mental wellbeing platform, just four weeks since it first launched.
Big White Wall, which is is part of our Student Experience Programme, offers peer to peer support, self-guided courses and personal assessments to support those living with depression, anxiety and other mental health conditions, and those interested in exploring resources to support their wellbeing. It is monitored 24/7 by trained counsellors and complements our existing University support services.
To celebrate the launch, a big white wall was built outside University Place with students, staff and passers-by adding positive messages of encouragement and the Student Communications and Marketing Team launched Let’s Talk, a campaign encouraging students to talk openly about the way they feel.
Simon Merrywest, Student Experience Programme Director, said: “We are really pleased that so many students and staff have been able to access help and support through our new mental wellbeing platform in the short time it has been available.
"We hope that the 24/7 availability of Big White Wall, coupled with the fact that all users remain anonymous, will appeal to those who have been reluctant or unable to engage with our face-to-face support services in the past.
"I would like to thank everyone that has helped to promote the service so far and would encourage colleagues to continue to sign-post Big White Wall and our other University support services to students”.
