This event is part of CIDRAL's Public Intellectuals, Popularity and Populism theme, presented in collaboration with Creative Manchester and the Centre for New Writing.

Colin Grant is a historian and journalist, and is an Associate Fellow in the Centre for Caribbean Studies as well as a producer for BBC radio. He is the author, most recently, of the acclaimed Homecoming: Voice of the Windrush Generation, as well as four previous books: A Smell of Burning: A Memoir of Epilepsy, Bageye at the Wheel, The Natural Mystics: Marley, Tosh and Livingstone, and Negro with a Hat: The Rise and Fall of Marcus Garvey. Colin teaches creative non-fiction, and has written and produced a number of drama-documentaries, as well as plays such as The Clinic, based on the photojournalists, Tim Page and Don McCullin.
