Manchester Museum’s latest installation at Manchester’s Central Library looks at Ancient Egypt in a Social Media World

In this digital age of collecting selfies and more on social media, what does immortality mean?

Manchester Museum’s latest installation at Manchester’s Central Library, Young, Rich and Famous challenges us to think of how we will be remembered after death and what we will leave behind. This marks a decade of partnership working between Manchester Libraries and our Museum.

It features some of the highlights of Manchester Museum’s Ancient Egypt and Sudan collection of over 18,000 objects, while the Museum’s Ancient Worlds galleries are closed during a £13.5 million transformation supported by The National Lottery Heritage Fund (NLHF) thanks to money raised by National Lottery players.

On Saturday, 19 October 2019, 1-4pm, Manchester Museum is hosting an event inspired by Ancient Egypt for families, with imaginative activities for people of all ages at Manchester Central Library.

Manchester Museum is working with local communities and businesses to display its collections across the city. It is inviting people to share their ideas of where in Manchester they would like to see other artefacts from the museum, if you have an idea please tweet us #MMAsMyCity.
