Staff benefits update

19 Sep 2019

Save on food intolerance and allergy testing, foodoncampus, try a new wellbeing activity and take part in a prize draw!

Lifelab testing

Lifelab Testing use state of the art equipment and science to discover our customers’ allergies and intolerances, using the blood sample provided to test against up to 240 key food and non-food items. Do you have bloating, fatigue, IBS, skin rashes, itchy eyes and runny noses? Sometimes, we dismiss these symptoms as ‘just one of those things’ but there could be an underlying cause such as intolerances and allergy that you just didn’t think about. Your diet may be having much more of an impact on your health than you think. The test will help you understand what foods and non-foods you need to avoid in order to live a healthier lifestyle. They are offering between 30-40% discount on their tests.

Foodinadvance

With FoodinAdvance did you know that using your staff card to save 10% across food on campus is so simple. Top up your card online for the first time, and this will automatically register your card or email food-in-advance@manchester.ac.uk giving your eight or nine digit number on the front of your staff card. Simply use your ID card to pay at any of our FoodonCampus outlets and save 10%. After you’ve registered and preloaded your card for the first time, you can easily top up at FoodonCampus outlets afterwards!

Cycle to work scheme

In June, HMRC released updated guidance on Cycle to Work Schemes with the intention to raise the current £1,000 cap. This change was positive for the University as we have been considering increasing our limit for some time to enable to purchase of eBikes and bikes for those less mobile. However since then Cyclescheme has spotted ambiguity in the wording of the guidance that is preventing the increases being cascaded.  As soon as Cyclescheme are able to offer the increased limits the University will seek approval, via the necessary internal channels, to enable our staff to purchase higher priced bikes.  Any change to the current lending limits will be shared via StaffNet and the Cycle to Work page.

It's a great time of the year to connect and try a new wellbeing activity – whether you prefer to explore the Busy Bees WI, ballroom dancing, attend a wellbeing lecture, attend a comedy show to help raise funds for Prevent Breast Cancer, visit the Whitworth or Manchester Museum to learn and discover!
