Staff Wellbeing Champions Take Action
02 Sep 2019
Across the University we have nearly 100 Wellbeing Champions who help to share wellbeing messages, support the University wide wellbeing activities as well as create their own. Here’s a little about what some of the teams have been doing this year so far.
Through May and June the DSE Wellbeing Champions Team ran a ‘Be Healthy’ campaign. Colleagues were challenged to Be Healthy by making healthy eating choices. On 1st May every part of the DSE received a free fruit parcel to share with colleagues and the team received lots of thanks and feedback on this initiative. Many parts of the DSE hosted healthy pot luck lunches with a brief to cook some real food, share a meal with colleagues and submit recipes for a DSE healthy Cookbook which was then made available to the department.
Alys Kay, Wellbeing Champion in FSE, ran 10 Wellbeing Wednesday: Exploring Positive Psychology drop-ins. Wellbeing Wednesday is a ten week course, informed by evidence and research, exploring the topic of positive psychology. This includes personal strengths, positive emotions and relationships and the theories of wellbeing. Participants had the opportunity to develop their knowledge, and practise using the skills and tools that positive psychology has to offer. Session involved a mixture of group discussion, practical exercises and promotes individual reflection on happiness and wellbeing, and all had great feedback from attendees.
A big thanks to all our Wellbeing Champions for their efforts through the year.
