How our Staff Survey 2019 donation is helping Trinity House

As part of the University’s Staff Survey 2019, colleagues chose three local charities to benefit from our £1 donation per survey completed. Here’s how our donations have helped Trinity House.

Trinity House is a community centre in Rusholme. For over 30 years it has provided a safe and friendly hub for children, young people, parents, carers and the elderly. 

The centre proudly embraces people from more than fifteen ethnic groups, and the array of services they offer includes a youth club, Zumba classes and help and support finding a job. Anyone locally, feeling isolated or lonely, will always be welcomed.

Since they received our Staff Survey 2019 donation of £1,194, volunteers from across the community - along with the team in the office - have repurposed an area of unloved outdoor space behind their building. With assistance from Sow the City, who provided guidance on developing the gardens, and the gardening group Incredible Edible, they have created a community garden. As part of a food growing project it will offer its produce for free to local residents, as well as allowing the area to become a sociable outside space for the neighbourhood.  The team have already built two raised beds, and began to sow a number of seeds and beans.
