University ranks in European top 10 for teaching excellence
05 Jul 2019
Our University remains among the best European universities for teaching excellence in this year’s Times Higher Education (THE) Europe Teaching Rankings
For the second year running, Manchester is listed in the top ten universities, making us one of the best in the country as well as the continent for student engagement and post-study outcomes.
The rankings rates Europe’s top higher education institutions (HEI), using 14 performance factors. It also surveys more than 125,000 students from 18 countries.
Among the key issues examined were students’ interactions with teaching staff, their opportunities to develop skills for post-study careers, and how likely students were to recommend their institution to friends and family.
Other factors covered the gender balance of students and staff, the ratio of published academic papers to staff, and the reputation of an institution among academic peers.
This new ranking follows the University being named the best HEI in Europe, and third globally, for social and environmental impact in the inaugural THE University Impact Rankings in April and reaching our highest ever position in this year’s QS World University Rankings last month.
