National Blood Week 2019

13 Jun 2019

It is National Blood Week this week and it is a time that many people may want to consider giving a donation of blood for the first time.

For most people, giving blood is easy, and despite the famous joke by Tony Hancock, it isn’t nearly an armful! This simple guide gives more information on what happens before, during and after giving blood. If you sign up you can receive a text from the Blood Donation Service letting you know when your blood has been issued to a hospital.

University staff are lucky to have the Plymouth Grove Blood Centre literally minutes away from the Oxford Road campus, making it even easier to give.

Why not consider signing up today.

Giving blood is also one of the 10,000 Actions, which provides all members of University staff with the opportunity to engage in a programme of learning and positive action on social repsonsibility.

Watch the journey of a blood donation on the video to see how donations help.
