Discover the amazing ways you can enjoy your time on campus and save money
On campus there are so many ways you can take time out at lunchtime for your wellbeing. Discover the wellbeing calendar that highlights the Be Active programme, world class sports facilities, free lunchtime concerts at the Martin Harris Centre, wellbeing lectures, lunchtime walks with the MCRStrollers, staff societies like the Busy Bees WI and cultural activities at the Manchester Museum and the Whitworth. FoodinAdvance enables you to register your Staff ID card to preload funds. When using campus outlets you then save 10% on purchases when showing your card.
Blackwell’s and Caffe Nero
You can save 10% discount at Blackwell's and Caffe Nero (on their mezzanine floor) when showing your staff ID. Blackwell’s has a wide selection of new and bestselling books, as well as all texts used across all university courses. In addition to books, they sell greetings cards, stationery, gifts, technology, and lots more. Blackwell's also buys, and sells, second-hand books.
Totum card
University of Manchester staff are eligible to purchase a TOTUM Card - the new name for the NUS extra card. The card entitles you to 12 months of fabulous savings from major retailers such as Amazon, Co-operative Food Stores, Spotify, Accessorize, Superdrug, Apple, ASOS, Easyjet and many more! TOTUM cards are available to buy from the SU Helpdesk (Mon - Fri 8am - 4.30m). You can also pick up your card if you have ordered online form the SU Helpdesk. When you visit the Students’ Union to buy your card you will need to bring your university student or staff card with you.
University Green
The new University Green outlets include Friska and Mowgli where 10% discounts are available (see T&Cs). The new Co-op also allows 10% discount if shopping with a Totum card.
Veg Box People
Veg Box People has been supplying weekly bags of locally-grown veg to UoM foodies for a number of years. You can sign up for a weekly organic veg box of delicious seasonal produce from just £8 via this link. You can collect your weekly from their pop-up stall outside the Greenhouse Cafe behind University Place every Tuesday. On their site visits (12-5pm) they also bring along a wide range of Trove Bakery bread and Red House Farm organic eggs that can be bought by staff and students on the day!
Jodrell Bank
Jodrell Bank Observatory is a truly unique site, instantly recognisable as the home of the world-famous Lovell Telescope. Staff can receive 15% off admissions. With extensive exhibitions and displays, there’s plenty to explore, particularly for families. Don’t miss the ever-popular clockwork orrery and whispering dishes! You’ll also find over 35 acres of gardens and arboretum, complete with a playground, picnic areas, and even an apiary. Plus, don’t miss the Planet Pavilion Café,
