Summer research placements available at the Dalton Cumbrian Facility

The Dalton Cumbrian Facility is pleased to announce availability of up to six summer research placements this year

Those taking up the placements will have an opportunity to engage in world-leading radiation equipment and purpose-built facilities situated in the exceptionally scenic West Cumbrian countryside. This is a stunning and very special environment in which to work, with a low cost of living and easy access to the coast and Lake District National Park.

Projects on offer this year are:

  • Automated control of radiation driven processes
  • Developing high activity palladium electrocatalysts using radiation techniques
  • Fabrication of Au-MoS2 hybrid materials by the ion beam impregnation for catalysis applications
  • Manufacture of radioactive nanoparticles involving transmuted ions
  • Radiolytic hydrogen bubble formation
  • Performance of structural concrete
