Record number of votes for the Social Justice photography competition

After a week of voting, the Social Justice photography competition has come to a close

We received 6,387 votes for this year’s Social Justice Photography competition – over twice as many as last year.  

Undergraduate students at the University were invited to take part in the competition by submitting a photo and caption about an issue of social justice that is important to them. 

The top five photographs, which were shortlisted from over 40 entries by a panel of judges, were exhibited at both University Place and the Renold Building and put to a public vote via social media. 

Thank you to everyone who voted and helped to promote the competition. The winners will be announced at the Volunteer of the Year Awards on 2 May.

The competition is part of the University’s Ethical Grand Challenges, which aims to produce socially responsible graduates. 

Please encourage second year students to take part in the Social Justice Challenge, which is open until midnight on 15 June.
