EU settlement scheme now fully open
09 Apr 2019
The Home Office has now fully opened its EU Settlement Scheme
Colleagues and their family members who are EU, EEA or Swiss citizens are once again able to take part in the Home Office’s EU settlement scheme following it re-opening this week.
Irish citizens or those with valid indefinite leave do not need to apply.
The University has already participated in the pilot phase, during which many of our colleagues applied. That phase had a £65 fee attached which the University refunded. The Government is currently contacting people who took part in the first phase to reimburse the £65. If you are one of the people who claimed the £65 through University expenses, we will be writing to you individually to let you know how you can repay this.
The current, fully opened Scheme is free.
It is still not possible to use an Apple device to send documentation (only Android or by post), however HR has Android devices which we will make available to staff to support them in their application. Please contact HR Services if you would like to take advantage of this.
The Scheme closes again on 30 June 2021 and the Home Office has created a website which explains the process in more detail.
We understand that the current political process is creating great uncertainty for many members of our community and we will continue to provide updates as soon as we are able.
