Mandatory requirement for all staff whose job involves research

The University of Manchester expects the highest standards of research integrity and expects all research to be conducted in accordance with the ten Principles set out in the Good Research Code.

In accordance with the requirements of the Universities UK (UUK) Concordat to Support Research Integrity, the University has implemented mandatory research integrity training for all staff whose job involves research.  This covers staff listed on the Human Resources system as being “Teaching & Research”, “Research” and “Experimental and Senior Experimental Officers”.

These staff members are expected to complete the training by 31 July 2019 and repeat the training every three years.  Completion will be checked in the Schools’ annual compliance returns.  Failure to complete the course will result in exclusion from applying for research funding or supervising PhD students.

Staff should complete the concise course and PGR students are required to complete a 5-hour course which is subject-specific and called Research Integrity (INT version) within Epigeum.

Instructions on the courses and how to register for the training are on the University’s Research Integrity website.

For Epigeum support please contact Epigeum.support@uop.com.

Questions regarding the training should be sent to Karen.Lythe@manchester.ac.uk.
