Plant more trees in Manchester with the Staff Survey 2019
02 Apr 2019
Taking just 15 minutes to complete the survey can contribute to a cleaner, healthier city
Thank you to everyone who has already submitted their Staff Survey 2019. As an extra incentive, the University is happy to contribute £1 to your chosen local charities – Big Change Campaign, City of Trees and LINK Good Neighbours (Trinity House) – for every completed survey, doubling this donation if we receive over 8,000 responses. So far you’ve helped us to raise £6112 for local charities.
How City of Trees plan to use your donation
One of your chosen charities, City of Trees has an ambitious mission: to plant 3 million trees and manage 2,000 hectares of woodland across Greater Manchester. There are numerous benefits to planting more trees, it:
- Improves the environment for the surrounding wildlife
- Mitigates the effects of climate change, producing cleaner air and reducing heat
- Connects people to nature, giving them access to a better quality environment, which promotes health and improves wellbeing
- Makes people more active
- Reduces flood risk
The charity doesn’t currently receive any funding, relying solely on donations like ours. Sian Day, Fundraising Manager at City of Trees says: “On average it costs £10 to plant one tree, so thank you to the University for its contribution to directly help create a healthier, happier, more resilient local environment.”
