The worthy winners were awarded their graduation package

The Ede & Ravenscroft Prize

Two students participating in the 2018 Student Experience Internship (SEI) programme have been recognised for going the extra mile during their summer internship last year.  This month they were awarded their graduation package courtesy of a donation from graduation gown suppliers, Ede & Ravenscroft.  

The two winners

Finn Vautier (BEng Mechatronic Engineering), a student experience intern within the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, was responsible for supporting the planning of Welcome Week and induction for 240 new undergraduates and 230 postgraduates. 

Raeesa Mulla (BSc Biochemistry), a marketing and administration intern within Student Development and Community Engagement, supported a number of initiatives within the team and was involved in developing ideas and key messages for promoting Ethical Grand Challenges and the Sustainability Challenge, the marketing of University College for Interdisciplinary Learning and supporting the roll out of the Sustainability Challenge.

The judging panel of Ian Bradley and Tammy Goldfeld identified the two winners amongst the nominated students from an original pool of 56, who took part in the SEI programme last summer. A total of 21 students undertook internships across the Directorate for the Student Experience. 

Tammy Goldfeld said: “The Ede & Ravenscroft SEI Celebration Event recognises the added value that our students gain from undertaking a Student Experience Internship. Not only do these internships help develop our students’ project skills, they help them develop professional networks and gain an insight into new career areas and opportunities. Furthermore, the employability workshops run by the Careers Service, which students attend as part of the programme, provide a platform to translate their skills into effective graduate job applications. That’s why we’re so keen to support the Student Experience Internship programme and why, given the standard of competition, this year’s finalists were such worthy winners.”
