Student Lifecycle Project implementation details

Update on the student lifecycle project from Sarah Beer, Director of Student Admissions and Administration
Dear colleagues,
Since the Student Lifecycle Project (SLP) was established, colleagues from across the University have been collaborating to review, improve and simplify the systems and processes we use to deliver the student journey. SLP has now completed the design and build phase and is entering the testing and implementation phase.
At the start of the project it was anticipated that improvements would be delivered in one go, but as we completed the design and began detailed delivery planning it became clear that implementing new systems and process all at the same time would be a bigger risk than anticipated.
For this reason, SLP will be implemented gradually to smooth the transition and minimise disruption.
The first set of business process and system improvements will be delivered from October 2019. They will focus on marketing, recruitment, admissions and associated student finance.
Across the 2020/21 academic year, the focus will be on the systems and processes needed to support new and returning students, with the first set of graduation ceremonies to be delivered using SLP functionality in July 2021.
Beyond this, we’ll continuously improve the services we provide in support of the student experience, using SLP as a foundation.
This gradual approach will ensure that new systems and processes come in to use at the most appropriate time in the academic year and avoid the potential disruption caused by releasing all improvements in one go.
The changes SLP will deliver have been designed through close collaboration with colleagues from School, Faculty and central teams. We will continue to take this approach throughout implementation.
This will see colleagues from across the University making contributions to the SLP in a number of ways, from testing the new systems and processes through to joining implementation teams to lead, support and embed the changes through their areas of the University.
