A good deed – and a good look

18 Feb 2019

Help women get into work by donating your unwanted smart wear.

Smartworks Royal patron HRH Duchess of Sussex

On Friday, 8 March, the Division of Communications and Marketing will be holding a clothing drive for women’s charity Smart Works in honour of International Women’s Day 2019.

Smart Works is a UK charity that provides high quality interview clothes, styling advice and training to out-of-work women on low incomes, helping boost their confidence and succeed at their job interviews. Its Royal patron is HRH The Duchess of Sussex.

You can help by donating interview appropriate, unwanted, gently worn clothes, shoes, handbags and accessories. All donated items must be clean and in a good condition.

Donations can be dropped off on the day between 11am and 2pm in the Communications and Marketing office, LG020 John Owens Building, South Campus.

If you’re unable to get there on the day but still want to donate then items can be dropped off at the same location in the run up to the event. Just ask for the Green Impact team when you come to the office.

What can I donate?

  • Suits
  • Trousers
  • Skirts
  • Tops
  • Shirts
  • Dresses
  • Coats
  • Shoes
  • Handbags
  • Scarves
  • Jewellery
  • New tights
  • New and unopened cosmetics such as make-up, skincare products and perfume

In order to carry out their work, Smart Works rely on donations so dig deep into your wardrobes and help these women change their lives.
