New Head of Campus Life is announced

Sarah Littlejohn has been appointed as Head of Campus Life
Sarah Littlejohn has been appointed Head of Campus Life, leading the Division of Campus Life within the Directorate for the Student Experience. She will commence the role in March 2019.
Sarah has previously held the position of Head of the Counselling and Mental Health Service in the Division of Campus Life. Sarah will report to the Director for the Student Experience, Dr Simon Merrywest. She will provide leadership across the University to deliver high quality and comprehensive non-academic support and wellbeing services for students and staff and ensure appropriate working partnerships are in place with colleagues, students, and external stakeholders, in relation to student support and wellbeing, and to the student experience.
Sarah is an experienced Psychotherapist, trainer and supervisor, with specialist training in Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT). She has over 25 years of experience working with students in the HE sector and has spent much of her career at the University of Manchester where she has recently led for the University on the development of the sector leading Greater Manchester University Student Mental Health Service. She has previously also chaired both the national Training Committee of the Association of Cognitive Analytic Therapy and Catalyse – which leads on the development of CAT in the North. In all her roles she has been particularly interested in applying psychological principles and theories to organisations and service development.
On her appointment, Sarah says ‘I am thrilled to be appointed to lead this important Division; Campus Life is an extremely challenging area providing vital services and resources to support our students and our staff. I am really looking forward to leading the Division; working with colleagues, students and external partners, to develop innovative responses to the challenges and opportunities we face.”
Campus Life combines many of the support services that have a direct impact on the day-to-day lives of our students. The busy hub of the Division is located in the Atrium in University Place, although specialist services are also delivered across the main campus and beyond.
It includes the University’s Counselling and Mental Health Service and Occupational Health Services, Student Support and Advice and Disability Advice and Support Service. It also includes the University of Manchester Assessment Centre, one of the UK’s largest and leading integrated HE-based assessment and support providers for disabled students.
On Thursday, 7 February Sarah was interviewed on the BBC R4 Today Programme (starts 41.15) in a piece featuring the new Greater Manchester Mental Health Hub which will offer more mental health support for our students
