Day 1 of the 12 Days of Learning: What will you learn in 2019?
16 Jan 2019
Did you start 2019 with resolutions to get fit, learn a new language or tackle a personal goal?
All New Year's Resolutions require support, ideas and in some cases, the acquiring of new skills – and that’s where Staff Learning and Development come in! Over the next twelve days, Staff Learning and Development are offering all colleagues a variety of resources to help you to learn, develop and gain new skills and knowledge.
Last year we launched Learning for all, an online portal which brings all our learning content together, providing detailed information on the resources available to you and how to access them. With its help you can decide what you learn, and how and when you learn it in 2019.
Challenge yourself and decide what you would like to learn in 2019. Consider how this can support you in your role in the future, and how this could benefit your team or the wider University.
The 70:20:10 Model
The University’s approach to staff learning, the 70:20:10 Model, focuses on experiential and social learning, and builds on the foundations of formal learning. This is explained in this short Lynda course, and explored further in this Learning and Development Toolkit video. Email StaffLD@manchester.ac.uk if you do not have access to Lynda.
Next, visit our StaffNet pages. With a wealth of resources available, you’ll be able to choose a learning option that suits your needs. These include:
- The staff Learning and Development Toolkit (found by clicking the lightbulb in Quick Links) – an online resource of curated videos, podcasts, infographics and articles.
- Learning zones specifically for academic staff and researchers and PS and Cultural Institutions.
- The Learning for all guide and the Learning for all webinar – discover ways to learn and how to apply new knowledge in your role.
