Join the University WI in 2019
08 Jan 2019
Meet new people, learn something new and make a lunch hour away from your desk your New Year's Resolution
The University of Manchester Busy Bees WI is the University’s very own Women’s Institute group, and the only ‘workplace WI’ in the area.
A small but very active group, we’ve adapted the traditional WI format to meet the demands of busy working women. We meet every Thursday lunchtime, 1-2pm in the Simon Building’s Wellbeing Rooms (in the UMSA Lounge, on the left hand side on the ground floor).
The first Thursday of every month is our ‘main meeting’ where we have a guest speaker or activity. All other Thursdays we have the room reserved for members to meet, chat and eat their lunch in a quiet and comfortable space.
We have a great programme for 2019 with a diverse mix of speakers for our monthly meetings. Non-members are welcome to come along and ‘try before you buy’, but membership gives access to many other events and courses locally and nationally.
Coming up we have:
- 10 January – Green hearts crafts and our annual ‘Naffle’
- 7 February – Guest speaker Tasneem Perry shares her experience as a survivor of FGM
- 7 March – The Urban Herbalist Marie Mulcahy will speak to us about herbal medicine
- 4 April – Henshaws Society for the Blind will give us an interactive talk
Try something new in 2019 and join us! Our group is open to all staff, students or members of the local community who identify as female.
