Manchester exhibition showcases #Vote100

30 Nov 2018

As part of its programme of activity to mark 100 years since some women first gained the right to vote, the Pankhurst Centre in Manchester is holding an exhibition of the city’s response to #Vote100

The exhibition features a selection of objects from some of the city’s key #Vote100 moments including banners, artwork, leaflets, badges and other items. Many of these have been collected through a series of Centenary City Open Days that have taken place at the Pankhurst Centre, inviting the public to come along and share artefacts that they would like to become part of an archive to record how this radical city commemorates this landmark year, providing a lasting record for generations to come.

In order to document as much event activity as possible, a digital map has been created where people can pin a location in the city where they’ve taken part in a centenary celebration, adding in photos, selfies, stories, films and audio to create a living representation of what’s taken place. Anyone wanting to record a Manchester centenary moment can add their own pin before or during the exhibition: somewomen.uk/centenary-city-map

The exhibition is open until 10 March 2019.
