A number of general awards will be made; in addition to these, we specifically encourage applications to one of our joint awards highlighting the following subjects: Low and modest cost physical modifications to ordinary/mainstream owner occupied housing to enable healthy, independent ageing at home, the connections between physical housing conditions and later life health inequalities (life expectancy/ healthy life expectancy/ incidence of long term conditions); fulfilling work, healthy ageing, connected communities, safe and accessible housing; care of people with dementia in care homes, issues of cognition and stroke in older people and their impact on quality of life; generational relationships and equity in GM, inequalities for older BAME people, financial inclusion, ageism.
The deadline for applications is 12 November 2018, with a requirement that funds are spent by 31 July 2019. Proposed activity must lead to at least one specific outcome such as a research proposal, a journal article or working manuscript. The commissioning panel will meet in late November with the aim of communicating decisions by mid-December.
