12 Oct 2018

The popular Tuesday lunchtime market will be on campus on Humanities Bridgeford Street

Levy Market

Levenshulme Market will run every Tuesday from 11.30am to 2.30pm. The market has rustled up lots of exciting new traders, while bringing back all of your favourites. Foodie Tuesdays are back!

Say hello to your old favourites, including Fritto Italian Street Food, Wrapscallion, North West Game, Nasi Lemak, Lush Brownies, Ginger’s Comfort Emporium and Mio Pizza. Joining these much-loved Manchester food legends will be a number of brand new stalls, including:

  • Geordie Soul - street food classics such as tacos and burritos with Korean fillings
  • Hun Street Kitchen – gorgeous goulash, Hungarian-style chicken, potato pancakes and more
  • Chit Chaat - authentic Indian flatbreads with delicious fillings
  • HM Pasties – a social enterprise selling Cornish style pasties
  • Hi Fries – salt and pepper dishes, from fries and onion rings to deep-fried pork sieuw dumplings.

Christine Felton, Market Manager for Levenshulme Market CIC, said: "Our team and all of our traders can’t wait to be back on campus again, we’re raring to go! We’re really excited about the brilliant line-up of stalls we have each week, including a couple of exciting new traders we’ve not had on before.

"We love the support and enthusiasm of staff and students at The University of Manchester, it blows us away how many people come to eat with us each week– you guys really are into your street food!”

About Levenshulme Market

The chance to run regular weekly markets and a night market at our University marks further growth for Levenshulme Market, which was launched as a social enterprise in 2013 with a monthly market on the train station car park in Levenshulme. In 2014 the market started operating weekly on Saturdays and in 2015, was revealed as one of just three finalists for Best Food Market in the BBC’s Food and Farming Awards.

New for 2018: Levenshulme Market recently released its first Social Value Report, demonstrating how the market has generated significant social value for local people in the five years it has been operating in Levenshulme.
