MMS Presidential Meeting - 'Exploring the Arts, Medicine and Science'

An opportunity to hear some of the University's most inspirational speakers explore the relationship between the 'Arts, Medicine and Science'
Some of the University’s most inspirational speakers, including President and Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dame Nancy Rothwell, will be exploring the topic of 'Arts, Medicine and Science' at Manchester Medical Society’s Annual Presidential Meeting on Wednesday 24 October.
The meeting will take place in the Grand Hall of the Whitworth Art Gallery from 2.00 - 6.30pm (coffee and registration from 1.30pm).
Chaired by Professor Chris Griffiths, OBE, the panel will examine the synergy between the arts, medicine and science and how an appreciation and understanding of art can enhance clinical diagnosis and patient care.
The expert speakers and panel comprise:

- Professor Dame Nancy Rothwell, President & Vice-Chancellor A Personal View on Art and Science
- Professor John Keady, Professor of Mental Health Nursing & Older People Creative Expression: Applying arts practices in dementia studies
- Professor Marcel van Gerven, Head of Artificial Intelligence, Radboud University Creative Machines
- Professor Sir Kostya Novoselov, Langworthy Professor of Physics Expert panel member
- Mr Alistair Hudson, Director of Manchester Art Gallery and The Whitworth Expert panel member
