Health

University staff can now access the Medicash Active Plan from as little £6.95 per month.  You can receive cash back on 100% of all your healthcare bills such as optical, dental, physiotherapy and complementary therapies and more via the Active Plan. This means that you can organise your finances and have the peace of mind that your healthcare worries are being taken care of and be able to seek early intervention with physiotherapy and have the costs reimbursed. They have various plan to suit your circumstances. Medicash also pays out for alternative therapies including homeopathy, reflexology, Bowen & Alexander technique, Indian head massage, reiki and hypnotherapy as part of a treatment plan.

Our Be Active sessions next 8 week block will run between 15 October - 7 December 2018. You can pick from a wide range of different classes such as Yoga, Pilates, Zumba, Kettlebell and many more.

Staff Wellbeing Fair

Medicash and Simplyhealth (another one of our Healthcare Cash Plan providers) and the Be Active Team will be at the University’s Staff Wellbeing Fair on 30 October, Whitworth Hall, 12pm until 2pm, where there will be lots of freebies and prize draws.  Three of the University choirs - the CEAS Choir (School of Chemical Engineering & Analytical Science), Let’s Sing Wellbeing Choir and the Library Choir will be each singing a number of tunes during the event to uplift your spirits and boost your wellbeing.

Locally-based chocolatier In Truffle We Trust will also be attending the Fair. This will give you the opportunity to buy Christmas gifts. They supply leading fine dining restaurants and are gaining global interest. They carefully source and combine the freshest and finest ingredients and also have gluten free and vegan ranges. Apparently luxury chocolate is actually a healthy and nutritious food. It is rich in anti-oxidant flavanols, dark chocolate and cocoa also contain high levels of magnesium and vitamins A and B12, whilst at the same time being low in cholesterol.
