Become a school governor
12 Nov 2018
Staff are invited to find out more about becoming a school governor over a cuppa
Have you ever thought of becoming a school governor? Interested to know more about the role? Would you like a free cup of tea or coffee?
Stephanie Lee and Alison Gregory from the University’s School Governor Initiative invite staff to find out more about the role over a cuppa at an informal drop-in event in Christies Bistro. The event will take place on Wednesday, 14 November from 11.00am – 1.00pm.
Emma Harris from Governors for Schools, a partner charity who match volunteers to school governor vacancies, and some current governors will also be available to talk about what it’s like to volunteer on a school governing board.
You can also come to a presentation in the Ken Kitchen Room at 1.00pm to hear from Emma and Alison about the recruitment process and the internal governor network.
With over 230 governors currently volunteering in this role, the event is a chance to hear about why so many staff are engaged in this worthwhile role and how the University supports staff to be effective and confident school governors.
Following previous events across the three faculties, this event is aimed primarily at staff in Professional Services and public institutions but we welcome interested staff from across the University. There is no need to register.
