Menopause at Manchester events

24 Sep 2018

There is an increasing focus on supporting women during the menopause and responsible employers are beginning to put policies and procedures in place to facilitate this

Menopause at Manchester

As part of the World Menopause Day events in October, the University is hosting two special sessions for staff at the Whitworth Hall on Tuesday 16th October. These will be delivered by Deborah Garlick, the founder of Henpicked.net who has been passionate about raising awareness around menopause and its impact on workplaces. She is a frequent speaker in the media on menopause issues. The morning session will also be supported by Gemma Dale, UoM Policy and Engagement Manager who recently launched managers' guidance on the menopause.

All staff, particularly line managers, are encouraged to register for these events and promote to all your staff. Reflecting the interest in workplaces for implementing a Menopause Policy, a number of external representatives from the Greater Manchester Fire Service and other universities will also be attendance.

There will also be an opportunity for attendees to receive a number of giveaways! Register now for a place on these special events:

Living and working with menopause

Following this workshop attendees should feel more aware of symptoms of the menopause and how they can better manage these in the workplace. This course has also been popular at other organisations with men who wish to better understand and support their colleagues and partners.
