Blind Veterans UK are looking for volunteers

Blind Veterans UK will be unveiling ‘Victory Over Blindness’ – a statue depicting blinded World War One soldiers leaving the battle field, outside Manchester Piccadilly Station on Tuesday, 16 October

This statue will remain in place as the only permanent memorial in the UK marking the 100th anniversary of the Armistice.

Blind Veterans UK have secured permission for a street collection in the heart of Manchester and they are looking for volunteers to come and help. Volunteers from the local areas will be joined by established Blind Veterans UK volunteers and members of the Tri-Services.  

Volunteers are required to collect from 10am – 12:30pm and 2pm – 6pm.  However, any time you could spare within these slots would be much appreciated.

Don’t worry if you’ve never ‘collected’ before – a full briefing will be given before the event. Tabards will be provided so you can layer up to keep nice and warm but still be ‘on brand’.

If you have a family member or friend who would like to take part as a one off volunteer opportunity and keep you company on the day not a problem – the more the merrier – but a completed application form needs to be submitted by the deadline.
