Professor Melissa Westwood appointed as Associate Vice-President for Research

Professor Westwood is a Professor of Endocrinology and the Associate Dean for Postgraduate Research in the Faculty of Biology, Medicine and Health
Following a competitive application and interview process Professor Melissa Westwood has been appointed as Associate Vice-President for Research.
Melissa is Professor of Endocrinology and the current Associate Dean for Postgraduate Research in the Faculty of Biology, Medicine and Health (FBMH).
Melissa replaces Professor Matt Lambon Ralph, who has moved to the University of Cambridge.
Professor Colette Fagan, Vice-President for Research, said: “With three years of experience as Associate Dean for Postgraduate Research, Academic Lead for FBMH’s Doctoral Academy and Director of the University’s Medical Research Council Doctoral Training Partnership, Melissa has already made a significant contribution to the design and delivery of the University’s PGR strategy. Melissa’s Associate Vice-President portfolio will also include responsibility for our community of research staff. I look forward to working with her to enhance the research quality, impact and development of all our early career researchers.”
Melissa will take up her new role on Monday, 1 October 2018 alongside fellow Associate Vice-President for Research, the recently appointed Professor Stephen Yeates.
