University launches new policy framework
03 Sep 2018
New policy framework requires all staff to make sure their policies are up to date and categorised correctly
A new policy framework has been developed to ensure the University has a consistent approach to writing new and developing existing policies.
The framework requires all University departments to review their policies to ensure they are up to date, categorised correctly and published centrally on the document system.
The framework also provides guidance on how to produce policies, the procedures to follow, codes of practice to be aware of and guidance in relation to the University's legislative framework.
A new policy template has also been created and should be used when reviewing policies or incorporating changes. Please note that it is not necessary to immediately transfer all existing policies into the new template. When policies are next reviewed or changed for any reason, the new template should be used at that point. As an interim measure, you are asked to ensure that all policies now include a version control document control box asset out in the new template.
The creation of the new framework follows a review of the University’s Policy Framework by the University’s internal auditors, Uniac and subsequent work by a working group established to review the existing framework and develop additional guidance for staff.
In addition to this new framework, further guidance on writing and communicating policies will be released shortly.
