Roll up, roll up for the University's 2018 Pride entry
24 Jul 2018
The University is proud to be supporting Manchester Pride with this year’s theme ‘The Circus of Acceptance’
Today marks the official launch of the University’s Pride 2018 entry. The University’s LGBT+ Staff Network Group ALLOUT and ALLIES, supported by members of the senior leadership team, gathered to celebrate the official launch of our participation in Manchester Pride 2018.
For the seventh time the University will be participating in Manchester Pride, with not only a float in the parade but also a walking entry!
This year’s theme is ‘The Circus of Acceptance’, and we plan on bringing the greatest show yet. Expect bright colours and big smiles as we bring all the fun of the circus! Our big top parade entry will showcase the University’s commitment to social responsibility and proudly represent the diversity of all our staff and students.
Haven’t you always wanted to join the circus? Well now you can! Everyone is welcome to join our parade entry on Saturday 25 August – staff, students, friends and family. All entrants will get a free T-shirt, but spaces are limited. To register please submit your name and T-shirt size via doodlepoll.
Further Information
Help the University show how proud we are to support Pride by displaying posters in key locations in your buildings. Student areas, receptions, hallways and office noticeboards are all great places to display the University’s support for Pride. There are 300 posters available to spread across campus for the month of August - before, during and after Pride. Please email Daniel Taylor and confirm which building you will be displaying the posters, the amount needed and whether they can be collected or sent via internal mail.
If you cannot join us in the parade this year, but would like to support LGBT+ staff at the University you can do so by becoming an Ally. Allies are defined as ‘individuals who do not identify as LGBT ad who believe that all people should experience full equality in the workplace regardless of their sexual or gender identity’.
