Going that extra mile to create greener heating facilities on campus

We are currently installing 2.5km (1.5 miles) of pipework to improve the University of Manchester’s district heating network on the east side of the main campus

Alongside an ongoing programme of long term maintenance to the existing steam network, this will provide a low carbon, reliable heating supply to support our research and teaching activities.

We would like to thank you for your patience during this ambitious programme of works, which will continue until 2020. More than 0.5km of pipework infrastructure has been installed to date with a further 2km still to be installed.

The next phase of works will result in possible disruption and diversions of known routes. The project team and your Faculty Estates Team will work with you in advance to communicate much more detail at a local level.
