International Day of Families
15 May 2018
UN-founded day highlights importance of family caregivers – here’s some support from University’s staff wellbeing programme
Today (Tuesday, 15 May) is the International Day of Families.
The UN-founded day highlights the importance of all caregivers in families and focuses on good practices for work-family balance to assist parents and good practices by employers in support of working parents.
It is recognised that many of us have young families or older families that need our time as well as our work responsibilities. The growing ‘sandwich generation’ also has commitments and pressures from both younger and older generation family members.
The University has a range of family friendly policies, services and leave. There are also other policies to support those who may want a career break or flexible working and even a Carers Network.
