The Business Engagement Team has been awarded £300,000 from the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC) to deliver the BBSRC Impact Acceleration Account (IAA). The IAA aims to strengthen knowledge exchange, support the translation and commercialisation of early-stage research, and imaginative approaches to impact delivery.
To support the schemes, an Information and Guidance Session will be held at the MIB lecture theatre on Monday, 9th April at 12-1pm. Register for the event here.
The session will include an overview of the funding schemes and guidance for developing your proposals. The meeting will end with lunch and the opportunity to get further advice on your bid from business engagement and research support services.
All funded projects must be linked to BBSRC funded research and will be awarded through four schemes:
- Relationship Incubator: to support academics in identifying new partners or building early stage relationships with an external organisation/industry partner who can offer a potential pathway to impact
- Concept and Feasibility: supporting concept validation of early-stage research, such as prototype evaluation, proof-of-concept studies, pump priming of initial trials and scoping exercises
- Push to-IP: supporting impact through commercialisation by funding the crucial, final steps before patent filing and strengthening cases for patent protection
- Impact Awareness: to promote and build awareness around projects that require additional support or external interest to explore and fulfil their impact potential
