Discount to internation academic conference
University staff and postgraduate students are being offered a discount to access an international academic conference that is looking at the future of manufacture.
The University is co-organising the Industry 4.0 Academia summit which opens on Thursday, 1 March 1 at Manchester Central.
Manchester speakers include Dr Mostafa Nabawy (MACE), who will give a talk entitled ‘Spiders Attack: the rise of bioinspired microrobots’ which will provide an overview of two bio-inspired microrobotic systems. The first is influenced by the extraordinary jumping capability of spiders, while the second reflects the extraordinary flying capability of bees.
Dr Nabawy said his talk will reveal: “a future where smart micro-robots are deployed in unknown environments and can plan and execute useful missions to achieve given goals.”
Also, a roundtable led by cyber security expert Dr Danny Drenser (Computer Science), will also be held as part of the academic conference. While Professor Philip Martin (CEAS & CAFE4DM), will be giving a talk on February 28 about ‘smart factories’ during a parallel two-day industrial conference.
Dr Yvonne Hung, co-organiser of the academic conference, said: “If you are interested in attending we have negotiated an 80 per cent on the registration fee for Manchester staff and students.”
