Kath Morris

Lead for Nuclear Environment and Waste at Dalton Nuclear Institute, Professor Kath Morris, has been recognised by the Nuclear Institute for her efforts to create change in the gender balance and diversity arena.

The Women in Nuclear UK (WiN UK) Awards, which launched in 2017, recognise people across the nuclear sector, who have gone above and beyond to promote gender balance and diversity. The shortlist spans the nuclear sector, with finalists from academia, the nuclear supply chain, nuclear operations and decommissioning.

On winning the award, Prof Kath Morris said “I am delighted and honoured to have been awarded the “Mission Possible” award by the Nuclear Institute in recognition of my research work in the context of gender balance and equality. I would like to thank all of the researchers and colleagues who have chosen to work with me over my career who have made this award possible. It is their continual engagement which generates an inclusive, stimulating and productive environment to undertake scientific research in environmental radioactivity.”

The award was presented to Kath at the WiN UK Annual conference on 31 January in London.
