A multi-faceted celebration of Czech string quartets, contrasting the pathos and resignation of Smetana’s second quartet with the dramatic urgency of Janácek’s Kreutzer Sonata (another reference to Beethoven) and joyful ebullience of Dvorák’s American Quartet.
