Staff offer - order fresh organic local veg this Christmas
Veg Box People are offering staff Christmas veg bags to help you to keep all your vegetables fresh, organic and local, no matter how many you are feeding this year.
Existing customers can order an additional bag and if you haven’t used Veg Box People before you can buy a one off bag of delicious Christmas staples and goodies like parsnips, sprouts, onions, walnuts and clementines.
The University has been working with local farmers through a cooperative veg box scheme for the last two years. Over this time our 110 customers have bought over 15 tonnes of organic veg, supported the livelihoods of seven local growers from around Manchester and brought three acres of new land into ecological food production.
Vice-President for Social Responsibility, Professor James Thompson said: “We are extremely proud to be having such a positive social and environmental impact through our work with Veg Box People. But what is more exciting is that we can do even more and what better time to celebrate our local farmers than when we are tucking into our Christmas dinner!”
