University sets up two cheering points to support our parade stars – and get a free T-shirt
Our LGBT Staff Network Group ALLOUT, plus ALLIES, supported by members of the senior management team, joined together yesterday to officially launch our participation in Manchester Pride 2017.
This will be the sixth time the University has participated in Manchester Pride (we have previously taken part in 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015).
The theme of ‘The Class of 2017: Graduation’ suits us perfectly and we’ll have a suitably themed entry featuring gowns, mortar boards and lots of colour!
For 2017 we have a new addition to our participation – cheering points!
Two cheering points will be strategically placed along the route (one near the Town Hall and one near the Sackville Street Building) so people can keep the entry going with enthusiastic cheers and giveaways for the crowds!
Everyone is welcome to participate in either the entry or cheer points on Saturday, 26 August – staff, students, friends and family. All entrants will get a free T-shirt! BUT there are limited spaces. To register, send an email indicating your preferences for T-shirt size and walking entry or cheer point to:

Being a part of our walking entry demonstrates inclusivity and support for LGBT colleagues, students and future recruits.”
