Bumper turnout for Annual Cycling Event
21 Jul 2017
On Thursday, 15 June it was the University's turn to host Corridor Manchester’s Annual Cycling Event
Organised by the University’s Environmental Sustainability Team with support from Corridor partners the event was held at University Place and run in conjunction with National Clean Air Day.
The day started with over 250 cyclists refuelling with a free breakfast followed by a bustling square of stall holders with bike sales and repairs, local retailers and community organisations all present. There was a themed photo booth to capture the day’s antics, a plant sale for people to add some greenery to their workplaces and homes and some lively music from RNCM students.
Individuals helped to create a colourful communal art installation by decorating bikes and bees which were displayed under some iconic Manchester landmarks. There were many cycle-related games and competitions, interactive activities and freebies to pick up.
The Manchester weather held out for the best part and there was a great turnout with more than 500 people dropping in throughout the day. Thank you to everyone who helped make the event such a success.
