Appointment of Director of Planning

Alliance MBS alumnus Matt Atkin to help deliver the University’s strategic vision

Matt Atkin has been appointed the University’s new Director of Planning.

An alumnus of both UMIST and the Alliance Manchester Business School, Matt joins the University after 20 years in the financial services industry, most recently at the Co-operative Bank where he was Head of Planning and Commercial Performance, a role in which he established a centre of excellence for integrated planning, analysis, reporting and commercial management.

Prior to this Matt led the bank’s self-service business in addition to holding a range of leadership positions at Barclays Bank, where he specialised in strategy and supply chain management.

He said: “I am delighted to be joining one of the world’s most prestigious higher education institutions.  It’s an exciting time for the sector, and the University, and I can’t wait to contribute as part of the team that delivers the strategic vision for The University of Manchester.”
