Professor Allan Matthews has been appointed Director of the BP International Centre for Advanced Materials (BP-ICAM)

Professor Allan Matthews, Professor in the School of Materials, has been appointed Director of the BP International Centre for Advanced Materials (BP-ICAM) taking over from Professor Phil Withers who has been appointed Chief Scientist for the Henry Royce Institute. Allan is Professor of Surface Engineering and Tribology in the School of Materials and Director of the BP International Centre for Advanced Materials. He is a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering.

Allan will be working to strengthen and develop the University’s relationship with BP in this major collaboration with the University of Cambridge, Imperial College, and the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign.
