Week of events casts light on refugees' stories

The Institute of Cultural Practices are delighted to announce their event series, Our City, Our Home, collaborating with Refugee Week and Manchester Refugee Support Network
Beginning on Monday, 19 June the 5-day series will take place at Z-arts, a family centre that focuses on creativity for all ages.
Our City, Our Home is a variety of new works, with the overarching theme discussing the journey made by those within the refugee community. While an exhibition entitled Home Is… queries what makes a home, there will be events taking place simultaneously that celebrate the welcoming of refugee communities to Manchester.
United Nations have allowed us to make use of Against All Odds, an interactive video game experience that immerses visitors into the reality of the experiences of refugees worldwide. Embark on your own journey from home, escaping a war-torn country to arriving at a foreign land, and ask discover the choices that must be made along the way.
Understand the effect of living in a war-torn country and being forced to leave your home from the perspective of a child, with a collection of drawings from Syrian children that give a poignant insight into what it means to be a young person in such an environment.
There is also a rare opportunity for local children to interact with this artwork, and create their own.
