Taking on global inequalities: panel discussion

The Global Development Institute is bringing together The Guardian, The World Bank and Oxfam for a panel discussion on addressing global inequalities

Global inequalities is one of our research beacons, and May sees two events that will address these contemporary issues.

A discussion will be chaired by Anna Leach, Deputy Editor of The Guardian's Global Development Professionals Network and a Manchester alumna. 

The panel will feature: 

Carolina Sanchez - Senior Director of the Poverty and Equity Global Practice (GP) at World Bank

Dr Rory Horner - Researcher, Global Development Institute (GDI), The University of Manchester

Rebecca Gowland - Head of Campaigning, OXFAM UK

Join us to have your say on how we move beyond agreeing that inequalities are an issue and hear why we must take action now and where we can start.  The event is free and will be held on Tuesday 9 May at 5:30pm in Lecture Theatre A, University Place.

The Global Development Institute is also hosting another event on Thursday 4 May on the theme of Geographies of Expulsion. Professor Saskia Sassen from Columbia University uses the notion of expulsions to go beyond the more familiar notion of growing inequality, and gets at some of the more complex pathologies in today’s world. This is a great opportunity to hear Professor Sassen, who is very notable in her field, at this free event which is behing held in Lecture Theatre B, University Place.
