New 'Report and Support' website launched

21 Feb 2017

New platform to report and get support for incidents of bullying, harassment and discrimination

Report and Support

A new website – Report and Support – has launched this week which allows students, staff and visitors to securely report incidents of bullying, harassment, sexual harassment and discrimination as well as providing access to confidential support.

It follows on from the ‘We Get It’ campaign which calls for a zero tolerance approach to any form of bullying, harassment or discrimination.

Jenni Smyth from The University of Manchester Students’ Union said: “The website makes it much easier for people to securely report an incident as well as get confidential support from a Harassment Support Advisor. It could be you or a student, or even a visitor to the University. As well as giving information and guidance about the types of support available here in Manchester, including the University’s reporting processes, it also directs you on how to help someone you think is in need of support.”

The new Report and Support platform provides:

  • A secure reporting section where students, staff and visitors can report an incident anonymously or get confidential support from a Harassment Support Advisor
  • A support section that directs users to information on the University’s reporting processes and the internal and external support available on bullying, harassment, hate crime, sexual harassment, sexual assault and discrimination
  • Guidance for those who might know someone in need of support; this might be a friend, colleague, student or member of staff.  It provides some tips on what to think about if this has happened, who they can talk to, and how they can report something
  • A campaigns section that promotes the work the University and the Students Union are undertaking as part of our prevention approach to bullying, harassment, sexual harassment and discrimination.

The website replaces the existing report and support online form and existing links should be updated accordingly.
