Centre for New Writing Spring 2017 season now on sale

Exciting events planned at the Centre for New Writing

The Centre for New Writing organises the 'Literature Live' reading series, bringing the best known contemporary writers from all over the world to Manchester to discuss and read from their work.

• The season kicks off with the launch of Four Sides Full for Vona Groarke, published poet and Senior Lecturer in Creative Writing at The University of Manchester. She will be joined by Katherine Angel, author of Unmastered: A Book On Desire, Most Difficult To Tell.
• We are delighted to host two exciting events with Jeanette Winterson, Professor of Creative Writing at the Centre for New Writing and author of award-winning books including Oranges Are Not the Only Fruit and Why Be Happy When You Could Be Normal? Jeanette will be in conversation with Val McDermid, one of the biggest names in crime writing, on Monday 20 February, and Neil Jordan, highly-acclaimed novelist, screen-writer and director on Monday 13 March.
• Jeanette will also introduce a Literature Live event featuring Lecturer in Creative Writing Beth Underdown and bestselling writer Kate Hamer on Monday 6 March.
• Manchester Literature Festival presents an In Conversation with award-winning author Mohsin Hamid featuring a reading from his forthcoming novel Exit West and a discussion with the Centre for New Writing's co-director John McAuliffe.
• Co-Director Kaye Mitchell will be in conversation with acclaimed short story writer George Saunders for the release of George's first, and much anticipated novel, Lincoln in the Bardo.
