10,000 Actions: you can still get involved

16 Jan 2017

The 10,000 Actions Programme gives all staff the opportunity to engage in collective, measurable action on environmental sustainability

Since November 2016, all staff have been given the opportunity to learn about the key issues of sustainability such as travel, responsible purchasing and energy, and the actions they can take to make a big difference through an innovative online tool.

Our aim was to create more than 10,000 actions on environmental sustainability. We are pleased to say that over 17,000 actions have already been pledged! But we want to make more of a difference and you can still play a part. We would like as many people as possible to have created their personal action plan by Tuesday, 31 January although this programme will continue to run supporting environmental sustainability across the University.

For every person that completes the programme, £1 is contributed to tree planting in the local community, improving clean air and green spaces. So far, almost £1,500 has been raised. Current completion rates across the University can be seen in the graph below.

In addition, during January, local artist Hammo, will choose a 10,000 Actions tweet every week to illustrate. By sharing your action on Twitter using #10000Actions you could win some personalised artwork too.
